Prep your best festival fit: Lollapalooza is back (just as last summer’s goosebumps from Chance the Rapper’s stunning set were finally starting to subside, no less), and with it, a loaded roster of all-star acts and emerging artists. With the four-day spectacle quickly approaching, here are five reasons to head to Grant Park when the mega-fest returns Aug. 2 - Aug. 5.

Always a tall order, the Chicago staple’s topped itself yet again with a packed lineup featuring headliners including Bruno Mars, Arctic Monkeys and The Weeknd. Chicago representation will be in full effect, too, with local talents like Knox Fortune and Taylor Bennett taking the stage. From rap (Gucci Mane, Tyler, The Creator) to rock (Jack White, The National) and more, there’s something for everyone’s palette.

It’s not a true festival without the awesome fare. Curated by superstar chef Graham Elliot, Chow Town boasts f&b (including vegetarian and gluten-free options) from some of Chicago’s best, making for a food-apalooza that doesn't disappoint. With past vendors including Harold’s Chicken, Kuma’s Corner and Pork & Mindy’s, there's reason to believe this year's iteration will be just as delicious.
The music merch game has heated up more and more over the years, with artists commemorating tours and shows with out-there apparel that makes for Insta-worthy street style. With a body of artists that are well-known style mavericks, we’re eager to see what garb might be on the horizon. Concertgoers, too, will be decked out in their coolest threads, meaning serious style #inspo is on the horizon.

Even when Grant Park empties out after the main attractions, the action is just getting started. Around town, venues aplenty are rounding out the evening with after-shows that keep the day’s momentum moving: Tycho and Walk the Moon are among the acts slated for the Concord; Park West will host Franz Ferdinand, Carly Rae Jepsen and others; Thalia Hall touts Parquet Courts, Alina Baraz and more. That’s but a few of the offerings—check out the rest here.
