1 - What's New at Chicago's Menswear Shops

Chicago-staple Haberdash puts the emphasis on bespoke this fall.

The speakeasy trend gets an added shot of style at J.Toor, the Gold Coast’s new bespoke suiting boutique. A trip to J.Toor is like visiting your best friend at his luxe condo—it’s located in a residential high-rise, and upon entering you’ll be offered a glass of whiskey—except here, you get to build a completely custom-tailored suit. Whether it’s for a formal event or business-casual workwear, the perfect suit can be found in the pieces at J.Toor, just waiting to be assembled. 747 N. Wabash Ave., 312-291-8249

We love Haberdash’s constant reinvention. Case in point—when it expanded into the neighboring State Street space to open its accessories sister store Haberdash EDC last year, and late this summer when the original spot became Haberdash Bespoke. As the name suggests, finely tailored clothing will be the key focus at Haberdash Bespoke. Next door, EDC opened its basement to offer more space for not just shopping, but an enhanced overall experience. One thing hasn’t changed: both boutiques still stock favorite menswear brands like LMB1911, Gitman Vintage, New England Shirt Co., and more. Plus, stayed tuned for the upcoming addition of e-commerce. 607 and 611 N. State St., 312-624-8551

With the 900 North Michigan Shops’ addition of Mezlan, men have a new destination for not just high-end footwear but also accessories in the form of belts, bags, wallets, leather jackets, and more. Started in owner Antonio Sanchez’s native Almansa, Spain, the brand’s inherent European style and strong focus on exquisite workmanship bring something entirely new to the city. Need more incentive? Mezlan has the seal of approval from Chicago greats like Michael Jordan and Barack Obama. 900 N. Michigan Ave., 312-962-8871
