An Evening in Bloom preview benefit at Navy Pier kicks off the Chicago Flower and Garden Show this Friday (March 14, 6-9:30 p.m.; tickets on chicagoflower.com). Through Sunday, March 23, the show welcomes guests into a green paradise of more than 25 extravagant gardens, seminars, workshops, activities, and more—this year all aligning with the theme “Do Green. Do Good.”

WHAT TO SEE & DO: Check out a reimagined rooftop terrace garden by Valleycrest Landscape Companies; a food garden by Peterson Garden Project; and an upcycled garden by the Chicago Park District in collaboration with Growing Power, Inc. Meanwhile, culinary demonstrations presented by Mariano’s show guests how to eat and garden green. On March 20 and 21, catch an appearance of John Gidding of HGTV’s Curb Appeal.
