Last week, barre-based workout studio The Dailey Method opened its third Chicago location in Lincoln Park. Franchisee Tami Conway, who runs the Chicago studios with her husband, talked to us about the benefits of barre (and, of course, sticking to those get-fit resolutions).
Why would you recommend The Dailey Method?
TAMI CONWAY: The Dailey Method is the safest, most efficient, yet effective, workout I have ever done. It is a one-hour full-body workout that combines orthopedic exercises with core conditioning, stretching, and athletic ballet—the perfect balance between lengthening and toning your body, while aligning you mentally and physically. The results [are] unbelievable. From clients who’ve never worked out before, to professional athletes, to those recovering from injuries—there is a visible difference in not just their bodies, but their self confidence and vivacity.
How and when did you get into it?
TC: I [used to be] a school teacher and always loved teaching. I also loved fitness; being a former dancer I fell in love with the barre workout. My husband was leaving his career, we were pregnant and starting a family, [and] I wanted a better balance in my life. We met Jill Dailey and decided to open our first location in Bucktown in 2009.
How can The Dailey Method be part of a healthier 2013?
TC: The Dailey Method can definitely help with New Year’s goals. If you commit to TDM three or more times a week, you will look better, improve your posture, feel better about yourself, and join a growing culture of men and women who are choosing to exercise safely and efficiently.
