1 - Café Ba-Ba-Reeba Gets Set For Spring

As the weather warms, it’s not unusual for restaurants to break out their patio furniture and reinstate outdoor seating. But at Café Ba-Ba-Reeba, they’re welcoming rising temperatures by pulling back their brand-new, state-of-art patio roof. The revamped roof and deck were unveiled mid-winter since the new addition makes it an all-seasons space, but in the open air, guests can really enjoy the remodeling—Spanish-inspired décor to perfectly match the tapas-style cuisine—while taking in nicer weather. Even if the April showers rhyme holds true and the patio needs to be enclosed, the roof is designed so that rain falls off it.

Aside from the must-see updates, the menu offers delicious dinner options that rotate frequently. Right now, we like shareable, bite-sized pintxos such as chorizo-wrapped Medjool dates with cheese, a goat cheese croqueta, or short rib stuffed piquillo pepper. Or, order up a healthy helping of the paella valencia, which features chicken and roasted pork teamed with green beans and artichokes, if you’re going out with a group. The sangria is a must in red and white, and each day offers a different special flavor from peach to passion fruit. Brunch and lunch are also available.

Also coming this month: Café Ba-Ba-Reeba participates in the popular Spain Vs. France dining event on April 24 (6–8 PM). You'll finally get a stab at playing Padma as exec chef Tim Cottini goes head to head with French resto Mon Ami Gabi Oak Brook’s Bruce William. ($25; 630-472-1900 for tickets.) 2024 N. Halsted St., 773-935-5000
