With two haute new openings, Oak Street is set to shimmer like never been in 2019.

Oak Street is steeped in high-end shopping destinations, but there’s nothing quite like its latest luxe addition—a gleaming new Chanel boutique. Designed by renowned architect Peter Marino and set to open Jan. 30, the 8,000-square-foot space will make its presence known in multiple ways. Graphic and geometric details prevail both inside and out, as a glossy black granite and white stone facade is mirrored on the inside by a portrait of Coco Chanel engraved on black granite and hung above a white marble staircase.
The store opens with Karl Lagerfeld’s 2018/2019 Cruise Ready-to-Wear collection, featuring stripes and sunny pastel hues in feminine, two-piece separates. The boutique also houses a curated collection of Chanel fine jewelry, including the elegant Code Coco watch in steel set with diamonds ($9,700), a unique timepiece with masculine strength and feminine detailing, and the showstopping diamond Bouton de Camélia necklace (price on request), an 18K gold and diamond lariat-style stunner. 65 E. Also new on Oak Street is Van Cleef & Arpels, which moves from its previous location in the Drake Hotel into a more expansive, 3,800-square-foot two-story space. An art deco-inspired facade contrasts with the modern interior, featuring an onyx and dove gray palette alongside walls paneled in gold leaf and Japanese silk. A handmade, double-height glass chandelier hangs between the two levels, while a VIP salon on the second floor offers a private space for customers to view all of the store’s exquisite offerings.
The latest Van Cleef & Arpels creations are on display at the boutique, including the newest additions to the platinum and diamond Snowflake collection; the oversized Snowflake necklace ($785,000) and bow clip ($161,000) will be available for the first time in the U.S. at the Chicago location. Other noteworthy pieces include the iconic Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra collection (from $12,200), featuring a new mix of materials in honor of its 50th anniversary, and uber-feminine Cadenas watches (from $36,600). 65 E.
