With a storefront in the West Loop, La Colombe is putting a summery spin on coffee with their bottled Pure Black blend. Simply pour the cold-pressed Corsica blend—which includes natural flavors of coffee, cocoa tones, and just the slightest hint of sweetness—on ice and enjoy. Pure Black is steeped in stainless steel wine tanks for sixteen hours, pressed, and filtered twice before bottling.
Not ones to miss out on an ultra-caffeinated opportunity, some favorite restaurants like Nellcôte (833 W. Randolph St., 312-432-0500) and Balena (1633 N. Halsted St., 312-867-3888) serve La Colombe’s Pure Black in delicious cocktail combinations or straight up on the dessert menu. Our favorite combination is RPM Italian’s (52 W. Illinois St., 312-222-1888) Affogato Float, which mixes creamy vanilla gelato with the Pure Black blend for an icy adult version of a root beer float.
