Archer, who is based in San Francisco, usually creates one-of-a-kind pieces, rather than seasonal collections. “The style is forever,” she says of her work, citing a piece she created 25 years ago that Marie Claire recently borrowed for a cover shoot with Hilary Swank. But, lucky for us, this season Archer tried her artistic hand at a holiday collection.
The line consists of smaller pieces—another departure for Archer—that can be worn alone, wrapped twice, or stacked for a bigger, chunkier look more in tune with Archer’s aesthetic. Inspired by the running together of colors she saw when riding a train through Russia, the collection is rich with jades, greens and browns.
In addition to showing her holiday collection, the trunk show will display an assortment of old and new pieces from Archer, whose handmade wares can be seen everywhere from the Sex and the City movies to the recent Bill Cunningham documentary to the Phoenix Museum of Art. 700 N. Michigan Ave.
