For style guru Ikram Goldman, Gucci's playfully glamorous Spring collection is the ultimate way to embrace the new season.
A sense of whimsy permeates Gucci’s latest collection.
With the rise of fast fashion as well as countless collections from upstart new designers flooding the market seemingly every week, it’s no wonder that even industry insiders are experiencing sensory overload. “There are so many clothes right now,” marvels Chicago style doyenne Ikram Goldman. “It’s become a world of disposable items.”
Still, the crème de la crème always shines through—and for Goldman this season, that’s Gucci’s whimsical-chic Ready-to-Wear collection. Why? Timelessness. “Because [these clothes] are so whimsical, they’re timeless,” insists Goldman. “There’s a sense of humor and a quality to them that lasts for eternity.”
It’s not all fun and games, though: Balancing out that sense of whimsy is a real glamour that can only be Gucci—as in one of Goldman’s favorite looks, a pastel blue crew neck layered gown with sequin bow patch and a galaxy of shiny degradé ray patches. “I love the fact that it looks vintage, like a Jean Harlow dress. It’s the kind of dress that I would go to a vintage store and I would look for but can never find because they’re so rare. But here it is.” Price on request; available at Ikram, 15 E.
