Women: Vegetarian Conditioning Experience
Women can go green at George the Salon this August with a pair of vegetarian treatments that revitalize dry, summer-wrecked strands. The experience begins with Davines Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle Conditioner, a rich treatment that goes below the surface to hydrate. Special ingredients like avocado, vitamin E, rice proteins, and hypnea musciformis (a red algae rife with fatty acids) restructure the hair and provide antioxidants.
The second step, Davines Nourishing Living Enzyme Infusion Spray, uses wheat proteins to add a protective barrier to newly hydrated hair; other active ingredients include cotton bloom for shine, olive oil peg-7 esters for smoothness, and an oxidizing enzyme. The entire treatment can be added on to any cut, color, or blowout service at the salon. 23 W. Hubbard St., #4, 312-923-9444
Men: Sip and Shave
Tucked inside the Elysian Spa & Health Club at the Waldorf Astoria, is hair master Oscar Zamudio, a third-generation and certified Master barber. For the spot's Sip and Shave treatment available throughout August, men can get an old-school, straight-razor shave from Zamudio, coupled with exfoliation and a calming mask. In addition to the 60-minute shave, guests will sip on a crisp, cold Allagash White, one of summer’s most refreshing brews. (Thursday-Sunday.) 11 E. Walton St., 312-646-1310
