The sporty street sneaker has played a major role in shaping the zeitgeist of the fashion scene over the past few seasons. As the athleisure trend and streetwear craze continue to inspire designers and adorn the industry’s elite, the phenomenon of the chunky-soled street shoe naturally follows. First shown in Givenchy’s fall/winter 2018 menswear collection, the JAW hightop made waves. Now, Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of Givenchy, has created a women’s version of the JAW sneaker that’s slightly more delicate and showcases a low-top silhouette without sacrificing any of its intense architectural presence. Beyond the strong and powerful aesthetic of the shoe, its DNA is both dynamic and multidimensional, featuring a variety of high-performance and luxe fabrications including neoprene, suede, calf leather and mesh detailing.
