Nothing offers more style cred than knowing—and wearing—a designer before they become a household name. Scout the next big fashion star at The Walk 2011 (May 5, 6 PM), the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s 77th annual fashion design student showcase.
Following a cocktail reception, SAIC fashion design students will present some 250 pieces on a 90-foot runway in Millennium Park. Sally Singer, editor of T: The New York Times Style Magazine, will attend and present boutique owner and style arbiter Ikram Goldram with the SAIC Legend of Fashion Award.
Post-show, guests will be treated to an elegant dinner on the rooftop of the Harris Theater. Tickets start at $500 for individuals ($5,000 for a table) and all proceeds from The Walk will support student scholarships and the SAIC Department of Fashion Design.
Can’t make the main event? Drop by the general admission dress rehearsal ($40, 9 AM), or score tickets to the 12 PM or 3 PM shows ($75). Millennium Park Chase Promenade North; call 312-899-1439 for tickets
