Volvo’s completely redesign sports sedan, the 2019 S60 Polestar, is a high-performance plug-in feast for the eyes and thrill for the soul.
Volvo’s first sedan ever built in its U.S. facilities, the 2019 S60 Polestar, is a sports sedan with a unique take on hybrid technology, pairing a gasoline engine with an electric one for added performance—not only for the fuel-economy benefits. The S60 Polestar T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid uses a turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder gas engine in conjunction with an electric motor to produce a combined 415 horsepower and 494 footpounds of torque. With those stats, expect the S60 to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds and have a top speed of 150-plus mph.
Look for the redesigned S60 to arrive at Volvo dealers this winter with a starting price around $40,000, and around $60,000 for the Polestar. 1924 N. Paulina St., Howard Orloff Volvo Cars
Going for the Gold Unique to the Volvo S60 Polestar are gold-painted six-piston Brembo brake calipers that peer out from behind lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels; other gold-colored details include the adjustment knob on the Öhlins Dual Flow Valve shock absorbers; and the vehicle’s safety belts pop in contrast to the black nappa leather sport seats.
