DEKA's Newtown Running Bar allows shoppers to test-drive Newtown running shoes before purchasing.
Last month, the 900 North Michigan Shops got a new, laid-back addition: DEKA is the Chicago iteration of retail veteran Jim Whitlow’s DEKA Atlanta, which opened in 2007. While other stores offer grand gala gowns or stylish weekend ensembles, DEKA promises to make shoppers look good when they need it most: right after a workout.
Despite its premise of casual, pre- and post-workout apparel, the new store—which is conveniently located just four stories above Equinox—has no shortage of designer labels. Adidas is an obvious choice for a sportswear shop, but DEKA stocks only its three high-end lines: Y-3, Adidas by Stella McCartney, and Adidas SLVR. Other notables include Splits 59, a collection of chic performance-driven activewear; Suunto performance watches and accessories; basics from INHABIT; and Elisabetta Rogiani couture fitness clothing.
DEKA also features a Newton Running Bar, allowing shoppers to try Newtown running shoes out along the nearby lakefront path. 900 N. Michigan Ave., Level 3, 312-266-7100
