“My partner, Jason Hall, and I moved from Bucktown to Lakeview two years ago. After almost 10 years away from the lake, we’re happy to be back on Lakeshore Drive with views of Lake Michigan and Belmont Harbor. It’s a diverse neighborhood with young and old, gay and straight, churches and synagogues and a wonderful mix of people that makes street life vibrant and urban.”
“Wang’s (3317 N. Broadway) and Wakamono (3313 N. Broadway). Wang’s is an intimate spot with an Asian-inspired theme that feels like you stepped off the streets of Tokyo in the 1940s. The adjoining restaurant, Wakamono, contrasts with a simple, quiet interior that offers delicious sushi and Japanese dishes. It’s a block away from our apartment, so an easy place to hop in for a bite after work.”
“Jason and I split our time between the city and our cottage in Michiana. Harbor Country is just over an hour from the Loop, and the quick escape is transformative. Quiet beaches and natural woods for walking; great farmers markets and roadside antique shops and actually delicious restaurants dot the area along Red Arrow Highway in Indiana and Michigan.”
“I recently started baking bread as a weekend activity. Bagels are my current favorite, and I’m experimenting with different flours and toppings as I hone my basic skills of working with the dough to achieve the right texture. My staff also appreciates what I bring in on Monday morning.”
