City Winery mixes good tunes and tasty Champagne with its Bubbly Brunches on Sundays.
This month marks the return of a City Winery staple: Sunday’s Bubbly Brunch, an effervescent weekend meal with musical accompaniment. From this weekend’s eclectic Sugar Fly With Me, to the French beats of Fumeé Gypsy Project (November 24), to the Dixieland jazz sounds of Petra’s Recession Five (December 29), the entertainment ranges across all genres to offer an entirely different experience each weekend. A ticket to Bubbly Brunch also includes, of course, a bubbly glass of Jané Ventura Champagne.
The a la carte brunch menu is as finely curated as the entertainment lineup. Breakfast-lovers will enjoy the French toast bread pudding, a decadent dish served with seasonal fruit compote, or the lump crab cake benedict with red onion marmalade. Meanwhile, the classic Monte Cristo sandwich will please lunch-leaners with its tasty twist of cranberry apricot jam. Or, keep things simple and sharable with cheese and charcuterie plates. The latter features a trio of cured meats including a must-try chorizo with garlic and paprika.
For libations beyond the glass of Jané Ventura, the brunch menu offers the obligatory mimosa and Bloody Mary, but try the inventive Caterpillar’s Trousers instead. The cocktail features Hendrick’s Gin, Lillet Blanc, Koval Chrysanthemum, lemon, celery bitters, and fresh herbs.
Brunch is served from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; music starts at 11:30 a.m. For $7 tickets (not including meal), and to see the full schedule of performers, visit citywinery.com. 1200 W. Randolph St., 312-773-9463
