Who designs the ring when a jewelry maker gets married? Just ask Jules Schwanbeck, who married Brian Vance last month, her sweetheart and head of the business half of her eponymous jewelry line, Jules. Although Schwanbeck’s ring included her grandmother’s diamond, it was her and Vance’s self-designed wedding bands that really made waves. In fact, it garnered so much positive feedback that Schwanbeck is adding a customizable version to her line.

The Morse Code ring is a simple, wide band in gold or silver, punched with dots and dashes of code to display a message. Schwanbeck’s, of course, boasts the coded message “Brian Loves Jules,” but the options are endless when customizing your own.

For Schwanbeck, the bauble is a deeply personal addition to her jewelry collection. She and her team of artisans create each piece of jewelry by hand in her Wicker Park studio—making Jules completely Chicagoan.
