Master mixologist Charles Joly partnered with Matt Lindner to release ready-to-serve Crafthouse Cocktails this summer.
Chicagoans have been lining up to taste cocktails mixed by Charles Joly, currently the beverage director at acclaimed bar/resto The Aviary, since his days at The Drawing Room. Now, Joly fans can enjoy his libations at home with two pre-mixed Crafthouse Cocktails he released last month with his partner, hospitality vet Matt Lindner.
A take on the classic, the Moscow Mule comprises small-batch vodka, ginger beer, lime, and cane sugar. Chicagoans will particularly love the Southside, a classic drink that includes premium winter wheat gin, mint, cane sugar, and lime. In September, expect a callback to summer when Crafthouse Cocktails adds the Paloma, with tequila, grapefruit soda, agave nectar, and lime, to the mix. All three concoctions feature high-quality, natural ingredients and are served in colorful custom-designed bottles.
“To create Crafthouse Cocktails, I started by making each cocktail at my home bar,” Joly says. “Then [I broke] down the recipes so we could scale everything up to produce large batches for bottling. It took months to track down all of the best ingredients, tasting through countless samples of tequila, gin, vodka, ginger, and other ingredients. The three initial cocktails we created through this process deliver a sipping experience that is as close as possible to a cocktail crafted at a bar.”
Joly even considers what the drink will taste like after the ice melts, so it’s guaranteed delicious to the last sip. Available at Binny’s Beverage Depot, 213 W. Grand Ave., 312-332-0012
