El Viaje-mezcal: pineapple, and absinthe.
The Bridge and Tunnel: carbonated lemon-peel vodka, white zin, and celery bitters.

It was no surprise that Trenchermen was an instant hit when it opened earlier this year. The resto’s four-man team—brothers/chefs Mike and Pat Sheerin, restaurateur Matt Eisler, and designer Kevin Heisner—has collectively been involved with Blackbird, Everest, The Signature Room, Bangers & Lace, and other top eateries. So when Trenchermen launched Sunday brunch (10 AM–2 PM) last weekend, foodies flocked to Wicker Park for a taste.
As expected from the Sheerins, diners won’t be getting traditional French toast and scrambled eggs at Trenchermen. For the perfect hearty meal, tuck into the pig skin lobster pad Thai, with radish, Thai basil, cucumber, lobster broth, and tamarind. In the mood for breakfast? The sauerkraut bagel with mustard cream cheese and smoked fish; or the duck confit hash with a fried duck egg, parsley, and potato, are imaginative takes on the usual AM standards.
And after a long Saturday night out, Trenchermen serves up the perfect remedy—hangover-kicking cocktails like the aptly dubbed Better Than Advil with tequila, cucumber, and jardiniere. If a hair-of-the-dog antidote is too much, Trenchermen also features La Columbe’s delicious Pure Black iced coffee on tap. 2039 W. North Ave., 773-661-1540
