Gluten-free crepes are a healthful specialty at Argent.
Argent Restaurant and Raw Bar opened inside the dana hotel last month and has quickly become a culinary destination, especially for brunch. The draw here? Culinary director Rodelio Aglibot pulls from the past for each dish, adding a modern dash for good measure.
The still-evolving brunch menu features classics like eggs Benedict, brioche French toast, and fluffy pancakes, but the specialties are what really take center stage. Notables include lobster hash with leek confit, dana potatoes, poached eggs, and hollandaise; or gluten-free crepes made up of coconut milk, rice flour, bananas, walnuts, berries, and a whipped cream topper. But the crowd-favorite d’Argent burger must be mentioned, too—Pat LaFrieda chopped beef exclusive to the restaurant stars alongside American cheese, dressing, bread-and-butter pickles, and marinated jalapeños. Five-dollar mimosas perfectly complement the cuisine, or go with fresh orange and grapefruit juices. It’s all easily enjoyed in the restaurant’s pretty ambiance, a mix of late 1800’s Chicago seemlessly combined with contemporary influences. 660 N. State St., 312-202-6050
