Niche Media presents “Art of the City”—a celebration of the most talented, buzz-worthy emerging artists across the U.S.. Art of The City connects these artists with our affluent and influential audience. The “Art of the City” Summer program promotes the freshest, boldest talent in each of our 11 cities, combined with generous support for local arts-focused charitable organizations.
As part of our Art of the City initiative, we've partnered with Charitybuzz to auction off pieces from the artists featured on our Summer covers. The auction will be live July 8-August 21 on Charitybuzz.com.
Michigan Avenue - Hebru Brantley
With celebrity fans like Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Lenny Kravitz, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Hebru Brantley is the hottest figure on Chicago's fine arts scene. The South Side native first came to prominence in 2012 when Red Bull and Bombay Sapphire both selected him to show his work at the Scope Art Show, a sister event to Art Basel Miami. Since then, his pop-inspired contemporary works have been exhibited in LA, London, New York, and Art Basel Switzerland, and he has done work for Nike, Adidas, and Swiss watch brand Hublot. With spray paint and oil, acrylic, and watercolor, his works project a hopeful world of optimism, hope, and youth empowerment, with accessible yet impactful visuals that make him an ideal subject for a Michigan Avenue summer cover.
