With the inclusion of award-winning Chicago-born designer Anthony Galante, this year’s Neiman Marcus Christmas Book boasts a chic local tie.
Chicago native Anthony Galante’s award-winning, sequin-studded gown is showcased in Neiman Marcus’ Christmas Book.
The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book is the stuff of lavish legend, cataloging the most outsize extravagances for the holidays—and this year’s tony tome boasts a gift option with local ties: a navy silk georgette gown by Chicago native Anthony Galante.Galante is the winner of a Parsons School of Design competition, in collaboration with Neiman Marcus and Norell, challenging students to create a modern interpretation of American designer Norman Norell’s legendary oeuvre.
“Norell loved to work with a classic silhouette,” explains the 31-year-old designer, who studied at DePaul University as an undergrad. “The twist for me was organically designing this with sequin embellishments in terms of placement and stacking and different sizes.” Retailing at $2,500 and limited to a run of four, the gold-, bronze- and navy-sequined stunner is on display at the Neiman Marcus flagship in Dallas. Says Galante, who singled out ’90s supermodels like Christy Turlington as a muse for his design, “To have that come to fruition is really more than I ever anticipated.” Strike one more thing off the holiday wish list. neimanmarcus.com
