Chicago Creation: Ronda Ruby Lamp

August 24, 2012 | by —Elle Eichinger | Pursuits

Traditional-but-modern damask patterns have proven staying power, and this glass-black glazed lamp ($175) from Ronda Ruby Ceramics by Ronda Ruby Dibbern is guaranteed to literally steal the spotlight. A product of the potter’s wheel in Dibbern’s North Center studio, the damask lamp is part of her latest collection, which comprises ten or twelve lamps with a similar theme. In this batch, the lamps feature dramatic curves and bold, patterned shades, also crafted by hand. Dibbern says she’ll take her aesthetic minimalist for the next set, with simple-shaped bases and wood veneer shades.

Though the damask lamp is available on, Dibbern also takes her wares to local art festivals, traveling this weekend to the 27th annual Bucktown Arts Festival (August 25–26, 11 AM-7 PM).
