Elizabeth Showers at Neiman Marcus
Thursday, April 12, 10 AM-5 PM
Jewelry designer Elizabeth Showers comes to the first floor jewelry department of Neiman Marcus today for a personal appearance where she can answer your accessory questions and help choose the right pieces for your look. The current line is part of Showers’ 18-kt collection: gold-banded rings with gorgeous gemstones that can be stacked or make a statement alone, and dangling earrings that complete an outfit. 737 N. Friday, April 13, 10 AM-3 PM
The Design Center at the Merchandise Mart is already an endless source of inspiration for our interiors, but for the eighth annual DreamHome, nine prestigious design firms use Mart materials to demonstrate how it can all come together to create one gorgeous abode. A highlight is the game room (designed by Gray & Walter, LTD.)—an uber-sophisticated family hub that makes a first appearance in the space. DreamHome will be on display through December 7. 222 Merchandise Mart Plz., 312-527-4141; merchandisemartdesigncenter.com/dreamhome
Baxter Shaves at Haberdash EDC
Saturdays, 12-5 PM
When Haberdash EDC opened a few short months ago, the vintage barbershop chair inside may have seemed a curiosity. Of late, the men’s store has been putting it to use by offering hot shaves every Saturday afternoon. Traditional, straight-razor grooming is an option, but last weekend EDC introduced the Baxter Method Shave ($30), using products from the tried-and-true, California-based men’s skincare line, Baxter of California. Appointments accepted but not required. 611 N. State St., 312-646-7870; haberdashmen.com/edc
Dose Market Offers Resto Previews
Sunday, April 15, 10 AM-4 PM
The foodie-meets-fashion dream that is Dose Market returns to the River East Art Center on Sunday. This month, the market debuts two food vendors offering sneak peeks at as-yet-unopened restaurants. Antique Taco will debut in Wicker Park next month but brings sweet and spicy chicken tacos (with jalapeno pickles, honey yogurt, and purple onions) to market-goers. Likewise, The Peasantry (opening later this spring) previews an olive burger with a lamb-onion bun, green garlic-fava pistou, and olive yogurt, among other delicacies. 435 E.
