Luxury Garage Sale Opens a Storefront

Last week, Brielle Buchberg and Lindsay Segal unveiled consignment-phenom Luxury Garage Sale’s first brick-and-mortar storefront on stylish Wells Street in Old Town. The best friends and business partners built their formerly web-only brand in November 2010. After a couple of pop-up events and constant requests from clients to come in and shop the uber-upscale consignment stock in person, Buchberg and Segal took the next step.
“Though we’ll still be selling online, we will be curating unique, on-trend, standout pieces to display in the store,” says Buchberg. In the duo’s charming fashion of finishing each other’s sentences, Segal adds, “[the boutique] will be a direct representation of our personal aesthetic.” Essentially, they will display the items they like most. And we certainly trust their opinions when it comes to style: Segal has outfitted artists for the Grammy awards and helped dress Lady Gaga for a photo shoot. But the best part? “Our inventory rotates on a daily basis,” Segal explains. “We have new consigners every day.” In addition to constantly-updated wares from high-end consigners, LGS also receives overstock from stores across the county—including, occasionally, Chanel—so many items are available brand-new.
Buchberg and Segal also tell us they’re trying to change the bad press consignment shops get as overcrowded, dingy, and confusing. With the new store’s gold finishes, vintage furniture, and pretty patterned wallpaper, we certainly think they’ve succeeded. 1658 N. Wells St., 312-291-9126
