Dorothy Hamill in Stars on Ice

Olympic gold medalist and world champion figure skater Dorothy Hamill returns to the rink as part of the Stars On Ice tour, coming to Allstate Arena at Rosemont on March 8 (7:30 p.m.). The ice skating tour—which has also become an Emmy-winning telecast—honors legendary skater Kurt Browning this year, who takes his leave from the sport after Stars on Ice “Now & Then” wraps.
Joining Hamill and Browning on this year’s tour is a cast of skating champions from around the world: Olympic gold medalists for Russia Ekaterina Gordeeva and Ilia Kulik, Canadian bronze medalist Joannie Rochette, and U.S. champions Ryan Bradley, Kimberly Navarro, Brent Bommentre, and more. Skating fans will likely be most excited for Hamill’s headlining act, though. More than 35 years after her gold medal win at the 1976 Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria, audiences may get to see Hamill execute her signature move: the Hamill Camel, a camel spin that turns into a sit spin. (Less likely to catch on all over again is the famous bobbed hair that made Hamill “America’s Sweetheart” in the 1970s.)
Stars on Ice continually brings Olympic skaters back to the world’s stage, beginning with founder Scott Hamilton—a skating legend himself—and including Kristi Yamaguchi, Katarina Witt, and others. Tickets (starting at $25) are available now at ticketmaster.com. 6920 Mannheim Rd., Rosemont, 800-745-3000
