Dinner Plans: Lakeview's New Frog N Snail

For a causal weekend dinner—at which you can remove your tie at the table without sacrificing flavor and quality—Chef Dale Levitski’s new Frog N Snail restaurant is the perfect place. Fresh off his successful stint at Sprout (which followed tenures at Blackbird and the now defunct Trio), Levitski opened Frog N Snail last month with Sprout owner Mike Causevic.
The former Top Chef runner-up’s dinner menu abounds with European dishes dressed up with a dash of Levitski’s Midwestern flair. A sweet pea risotto with lemon cream, mint, and oven goat cheese is of note; and the French onion soup features inventive items like short rib, peas, and fontina. Made-to-share appetizers (affectionately dubbed “ours” on the menu) include a white anchovy crostini with radish, watercress, charred zucchini, and onion relish with olive oil poached tomato; as well as a hearty homemade ricotta dip with bacon, broccoli, and herbs, served with baguette. A delicious crepe bar boasting both sweet and savory selections ups the spot's fancy-yet-casual feel.
Still in its infancy, the restaurant isn’t serving cocktails yet, and outdoor seating is also coming soon. But with both tweaks said to be made in the next week or so, we recommend making Frog N Snail your favorite before the crowds discover it.
