Last week, The Underground saluted Chicago designers with its Hyper Local fashion bash—an evening filled with top-shelf cocktails, musical performances, and, of course, style. Hyper Local is a part of the second-annual Style Series, presented by Rockit Ranch Productions and Garmental.com.
The event opened with a surprise performance from new new-age group Miles Long, the musical brainchild of DJ Eddie Mills, whose tracks were fused with the sounds of three live musicians—edgy rock guitar from Ed Gerber, violin via Zara Z, and bass beats by "My Boy Elroy."
Featured styles from local designers included the latest pieces from AGGA B., Miriam Cecilia, Lara Miller, Nonnie, and Andrei Savtchenko (who modeled his own designs) for Simon Hart/Dorsia Collection. Even the models were locals, as Chicagoans like Survivor contestant Alicia Rosa, The Midwasteland blogger, Monica Dimperio, and others took to the runway.
Style Series will have two more shows to round out its month-long program. It's a British invasion on April 19 (with looks from Topshop and Topman), and on April 26, a timely show of swimwear (both shows, 9-11 PM). Based on last week’s installment, the upcoming complimentary-admission events will be the perfect time to mingle with Chicago’s fashion elite and sip on such drinks as Grey Goose cocktails and Beau Joie Champagne. 56 W.
