Shorthand for the stars: Every town has its one-name celebs, and this zip has one-name structures: Say Playboy (Palmolive Building, 159 E. Walton), Neiman’s (Olympia Centre, 161 E. Chicago Ave.) or Bloomie’s (132 E. Delaware Pl.), and everyone knows which buildings you’re talking about. And there’s a bevy of superluxe newbies with the same cachet, such as 900 (The Residences at 900 N. Michigan Ave.), Trump (Trump International Hotel & Tower, 401 N. Wabash Ave.) and Elysian (Elysian Hotel, 11 E. Walton St.), all of which have unsold units. There’s also the still-rising Ritz (The Ritz-Carlton Residences Chicago, Magnificent Mile, 664 N. Michigan Ave.), which will have its first units ready for occupancy this December.

Perks
Education: The Ogden International School of Chicago, which offers a pre-K through high school program, is debuting a brand-new building at 24 W. Walton St. that will serve as the home base for its two campuses.

Shopping: Oak Street, undeniably Chicago’s chicest and most densely packed block of luxury shopping, anchors the north end of the zip and has undergone a renaissance since Barneys New York opened its glam new digs and Hermès did an equally spectacular job turning Barneys’ old space into its new flagship. Other new players on the block include Bonpoint, Sofia, Vince, Moncler, Pomellato and Jack Spade; Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces just moved to Oak Street, Oliver Peoples opened in June and Tory Burch is moving from Walton Street to a two-story space at 45 E. Oak in mid-October. At the end of the block, Scoop NYC (1009 N. Rush St.) opened this summer, and in the Elysian there’s a Marc Jacobs outpost with upscale boutique Perchance coming this fall. We’re also intrigued by all the action on Michigan Avenue, with recently opened Cop-Copine (919 N. Michigan Ave.), L.K. Bennett (in the 900 North Michigan Shops) and HomeGoods (600 N. Michigan Ave.), plus Topshop (830 N. Michigan Ave.) and AllSaints Spitalfields (700 N. Michigan Ave.).

Eats: Treasured neighborhood faves are Tempo (6 E. Chestnut St.) for breakfast; Fred’s At Barneys New York (15 E. Oak St.) for lunch; and Feast Restaurant + Bar (25 E. Delaware Pl.) for dinner. Newcomers earning rave reviews include Bistronomic (840 N. Wabash Ave.) and Balsan, the modern bistro in the Elysian with a three-course, prix-fixe Sunday supper for $29.
