What type of customer comes to Abt Electronics?
We’re different from most retailers because we attract a wide audience. For example, we sell stoves for $199 to $38,000, and LCD TVs can run from $100 to $20,000. But we pride ourselves in treating every customer the same way and providing a great experience.

What are some hot-ticket items this holiday season?
After Apple launched its iPad, other companies began following suit with tablet computers—the Samsung Galaxy Tablet is due out before the end of the year; others by BlackBerry, Toshiba and HP will launch in 2011. It’s too big to be a phone and too small to be a computer, but it’s a technology that gives the user instant gratifi cation.

Anything new and exciting coming out?
Advanced HDTVs are picking up steam. In 2011 we’ll see more computer-like sets with Internet capabilities, widgets, apps and 3-D TVs, which is exciting. Right now, I like the Samsung 55” Series 8 LED HDTV ($2,897).

Describe the store’s philosophy.
At Best Buy we want to get our customers excited about all the possibilities technology offers them, both at home and on the go. There are so many innovative products that we sell to make our everyday lives much simpler, and we have fun teaching those solutions to others.

What is a must-have for the holidays?
This is the year to upgrade your home theater with new advancements in 3-D technology to make your home the best place to enjoy the latest entertainment.

What’s your favorite item in the store right now?
The HTC EVO ($199 with two-year contract) on Sprint’s 4G network gives you access to over 35,000 of the coolest apps the Android market has to offer. Also, Apple has launched a complete makeover to their iPod Touch (8GB, $229), Nano (8GB, $149) and Shuffle (2GB, $49). There’s a lot of excitement around the new look and features these gadgets offer—they’re great stocking stuffers


What makes the Garmin store special?
We like to describe the Michigan Avenue store as “high tech and high touch.” It’s the only place in the world where you can view our entire product line under one roof. You’ll also find knowledgeable associates who can give you hands-on product demonstrations and service that you can’t find elsewhere.

What’s flying off the shelves?
Our Forerunner line of fitness watches ($130–$400) has been a traditional best seller for us. We carry devices for cyclists, hikers, hunters, boaters, golfers and pilots, too.

What item in the store excites you?
The nüvi 3790T ($450) is our new super-slim and stylish automotive navigator—it draws a lot of oohs and aahs when people see it for the first time. It’s thin and sleek, and the display is crisp and bright. It has all of the premium navigation features you’d want and expect, but it’s the wow factor that really seals the deal for me.
